Erin Dingle tells it like it is. Whether it's sad, silly, science or NSFW, they "take that confused feeling or idea you've never had words for and paint it into poetry you'll understand."
You might recognize them from five consecutive Calgary Poetry Slam teams or from competing at the Women of the World Poetry Slam in Brooklyn back in 2016. Dingle also talked their way onto the Finals stage at the Canadian Independent Poetry Slam competition in Vancouver five years in a row. They placed 2nd in 2015. In 2016, they received the first Zaccheus Jackson Nyce Memorial Award for Poetic Power and Community Spirit.
Dingle has also rocked the mic for Ted-x, the YWCA, the Peter Gzowski Invitational, Poverty Talks and numerous other poetry and spoken word festivals across Canada.
They facilitate workshops in Calgary schools and as part of community events like Alberta Cultural Days to help youth and adults explore psychological resilience and self discovery by expanding their emotional language in writing and performance.
They have 3 books and one magic dog. When they aren’t wording it up? You will find them spinning their hula hoop, brazening out a bit of burlesque and emceeing multiple art and performance events across Canada.
If you want "poetry with puns, authentic passion, and piercing explorations of cancer, mental and chronic illness, trauma, parenting, sexuality and survival", Dingle is your dynamite destination.
