J-Reds

Genre-bending, time-warping, tongue twisting, syllable manipulating, growth music.

J-reds has always been a bit of genre chameleon. Moving around the country a lot throughout his youth, he was exposed to many social circles & backgrounds. His initial dive into instrumentation began with rhythm as J-reds smacked his father's drum set around. This fascination grew, but due to housing limitations, he switched to guitar.

He has been influenced by the classics: The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix, as well as his father's heroes Van Halen and Judas Priest. His mother's love of country music also made its way into his repertoire, not to mention his own adolescent idols: Blink 182, Sum 41 and Billy Talent. Slowly J-reds became less involved with Punk Rock & Heavy Metal and a fixation on hip hop began to take shape specifically with emotionally powerful/Conscious Hip Hop & the Freestyle/Written Battle Rap Culture. His freestyle and written battles can be found online on many platforms such as King of the Dot, Rep Yo Self and Smoked Out Battles. Using promoting events as a platform to break into the industry, J-reds has toured, played shows and/or collaborated with personal heroes and industry leaders like Mac Lethal, Sage Francis, Sadistik, P.O.S, DJ Abilities of Eyedea and Abilities, Murs, Carnage The Executioner, Merkules, Snak The Ripper, Celph Titled and Apathy Locksmith, R.A. The Rugged Man, Kung Fu Vampire, Cryptic Wisdom, Madchild, Sweatshop Union, Sunspot Jons and Evil Ebenezer. J-Reds and spirit brother Michael AKA Inc.Line began collaborating to adapt sets to the festival/EDM culture and have collectively opened for Skiitour, Mat The Alien, Big Chocolate and more!

Soul, authenticity, innovation, originality and growth are always the focus of his musical construction. J-Reds started playing music at age 12, and started professionally recording and releasing at 15. J-reds is in his 10th year of professional musical development and has an exciting spring of touring and an eventful summer of festival collaborations coming to your city. He hopes to create a shared experience of humour, laughs, tears, bouncing head hip hoppers and arm flailing ravers in an intimate exchange of communal connectivity.
