Sly Skeeta is an Ojibway and East African musician raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Living in a broken home, he experienced poverty from a very young age and hung around a bad crowd which got him into trouble with the law. He changed his life around and started learning how to write poetry which eventually became rap songs. With years of experience in the local hip hop scene, the sound of Sly is rapid fire rhymes on hard hitting beats that mesmerize his audience with his powerful voice and witty lyricism. In 2011 Sly did a Canadian tour with Mixtechs Deejays including two shows in Banff. Influenced by emceeing over Drum & Bass and Jungle, Sly MC'd for Mat the Alien and Capital Jay, performing at many local raves over the past year. Although he is known for making club anthems he also speaks up for First Nations Youth who are affected by poverty and the issues they face.
Sly has toured across Canada opening up for international artists/djs and was also featured on the Red Robe Women Drum Society Singers compilation, which was sent to the Parliament in Ottawa and the group performed at the 2014 Juno Awards. With two mixtapes and a full length album titled 'The HeArtist' released, the album featured numerous local and national singers and rappers with songs that are played on radio stations across the country. Sly has lots of experience at festivals, performing at seven festivals during the summer of 2017, including Astral Harvest 2017. His Latest EP is called Trapezoid and is now on Spotify, Apple Music and iTunes. Sly wants his music to make people dance and be heard around the world! He has the stage presence and talent to get the crowd in a frenzy!
