Ecstatic Dance is a free-form dance class including breathing, movement and sound techniques to promote the healing of the physical, emotional and spiritual body.
Once bound by her own limitations, Janelle thought people had to start dancing at 4 years old and continue through their entire childhood to a fine arts degree in order to be a dancer. After doing a lot of what she mediocrely liked, or even really liked, Janelle finally realized the only thing stopping her from doing what she really loved... was herself. So she "became" a dancer. In 2007, she certified as a Nia instructor, teaching a blend of dance, martial arts and healing arts. Soon after, she discovered Contact Improv and Ecstatic Dance and was smitten. After teaching Nia for eight years to humans from ages six to seventy-five, she moved on to become a certified Ecstatic Dance facilitator under Astraea Starr in 2016. An Arcatribe/Intention community mover and shaker since 2006, massage therapist since 2009 and DJ since 2012, Janelle revels in the magical marriage of music and movement. Her focus is on releasing the constraints of social norms and the ego so that dancers can fully let go and drop in to the wisdom of the body.
