Astral Harvest Podcast Episode #21 Sophia Ocean
Sophia grew up in the heart of Wales, close to nature and her adventurous family. Ever curious about how to deepen her relationship to life, Sophia has dedicated much of her time to exploring healing arts around the world.
Training at Laban Dance Conservatoire, in London, touring Europe with Taudevin Dance Company and teaching dance with Mile Zero in Canada taught her much about the importance of developing a deep connection with the body as a platform for health, spiritual growth and expression.
After training as a Holistic Health Practitioner at Grant MacEwan University, Sophia completed her yoga TTC at Yoga Vidya Gurukul in India and later studied at Agama Yoga in Thailand and Inan Itah, Nicaragua for tantric wisdom. Sophia taught yoga for five years in Edmonton, providing personal, corporate and studio based classes; and then started travelling with yoga and other healing practices, teaching at festivals, retreats, permaculture tours and community events.
Sophia studied Acupressure, Reflexology, Reiki in Canada and Thai Massage in Thailand and offers a unique blend of these healing arts in the form of Ritual Healing Massage.
Wanting to understand more about female empowerment and the miracle of birth, she trained as a Doula and then became more involved in solution focused activism. In 2012, She toured as the yoga teacher and holistic health practitioner with Nu Mundo, through Central America, helping to build a regenerative planet and community.
In 2014, Sophia went on a pilgrimage to Peru to learn from the ancient ways of the Shaman. Then she travelled to O.U.R Ecovillage to study with StarHawk and Charles Williams for her Permaculture Design Certification and Earth Activist Training. Following this, she co-founded The Blooming Biodiversity Permaculture Tour which traveled along the West Coast of North America.
Sophia is now based in Edmonton offering regular yoga classes, cacao ceremonies, ritual healing massage and song circles. Please feel free to contact for more information about any of these offerings.
